Narrative:

Purpose of afternoon was the wash, dry off, and warm up the aircraft and engine, so aircraft could be brought to maintenance hangar on same home base field to begin annual inspection. Late afternoon was VFR, but went to 900 ft AGL by the time washing aircraft was complete and it was dark now. Requested from ground control to park at ramp to let engine warm up, but was cleared to runway 35 (winds 350 degrees at 7 KTS) and to hold short. Checked with tower. Now 700 ft ceiling, so asked for high speed taxi on runway 35. Cleared the area, performed the taxi, and stopped without incident. Asked tower if I could taxi back to runway 35 to do this again. Tower offered runway 17 instead. I back-taxied to the end of runway 17 and started my second high speed taxi. I quickly sped up, pulled power, and applied brakes. I was at an excessive high speed. Poor braking due to wet pavement and my concern regarding adequate remaining runway length caused me to apply full power to take off. Advised tower, unable to safely stop and was taking off. I was cleared to land on runway 35 by tower. Then, I climbed and landed safely. Although I was not asked, I called tower by landline and explained what happened. Next time, I will limit usage of high speed taxiing and I will never do it downwind unless under ideal conditions (not at night or on wet pavement).

Title: DURING A HIGH SPD TAXI TO DRY OFF HIS BE36 AFTER WASHING, THE RPTR INADVERTENTLY TOOK OFF FROM OWD.

Narrative: PURPOSE OF AFTERNOON WAS THE WASH, DRY OFF, AND WARM UP THE ACFT AND ENG, SO ACFT COULD BE BROUGHT TO MAINT HANGAR ON SAME HOME BASE FIELD TO BEGIN ANNUAL INSPECTION. LATE AFTERNOON WAS VFR, BUT WENT TO 900 FT AGL BY THE TIME WASHING ACFT WAS COMPLETE AND IT WAS DARK NOW. REQUESTED FROM GND CTL TO PARK AT RAMP TO LET ENG WARM UP, BUT WAS CLRED TO RWY 35 (WINDS 350 DEGS AT 7 KTS) AND TO HOLD SHORT. CHKED WITH TWR. NOW 700 FT CEILING, SO ASKED FOR HIGH SPD TAXI ON RWY 35. CLRED THE AREA, PERFORMED THE TAXI, AND STOPPED WITHOUT INCIDENT. ASKED TWR IF I COULD TAXI BACK TO RWY 35 TO DO THIS AGAIN. TWR OFFERED RWY 17 INSTEAD. I BACK-TAXIED TO THE END OF RWY 17 AND STARTED MY SECOND HIGH SPD TAXI. I QUICKLY SPED UP, PULLED PWR, AND APPLIED BRAKES. I WAS AT AN EXCESSIVE HIGH SPD. POOR BRAKING DUE TO WET PAVEMENT AND MY CONCERN REGARDING ADEQUATE REMAINING RWY LENGTH CAUSED ME TO APPLY FULL PWR TO TAKE OFF. ADVISED TWR, UNABLE TO SAFELY STOP AND WAS TAKING OFF. I WAS CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 35 BY TWR. THEN, I CLBED AND LANDED SAFELY. ALTHOUGH I WAS NOT ASKED, I CALLED TWR BY LANDLINE AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED. NEXT TIME, I WILL LIMIT USAGE OF HIGH SPD TAXIING AND I WILL NEVER DO IT DOWNWIND UNLESS UNDER IDEAL CONDITIONS (NOT AT NIGHT OR ON WET PAVEMENT).
