Narrative:

On arrival into lga at 4000 ft, just past dials, going direct to lga, the approach controller advised us of helicopter traffic that was hovering at 3500 ft, 3 mi, at our 11:30 O'clock position location. We started looking for the traffic. It was showing about 1 O'clock position on the TCASII. We then received a climb RA. The TCASII showed the traffic now 400 ft below us and climbing, we executed the climb and climbed up to 4500 ft and advised the controller that we were responding to an RA, and that we didn't have the traffic in sight.
