Narrative:

Upon taxi out at ord, we were given a runway change. We had been told to hold short of an active runway. I was reloading the FMS for the new runway. When I looked up, the captain was halfway across the runway we had been told to hold short of. We continued across and stopped on the other side. ATC issued continued instructions without mention of the incursion. Flight continued without incident. The distraction of course was that both pilots were not watching outside due to the runway change. The A300 requires several checks and changes when a runway change is issued. Unfortunately, stopping on an active taxiway would not be an option. Perhaps all changes could be delayed until a stop is appropriate -- so that both pilots' eyes were outside at all times.

Title: A300 FLT CREW HAS RWY INCURSION AT ORD.

Narrative: UPON TAXI OUT AT ORD, WE WERE GIVEN A RWY CHANGE. WE HAD BEEN TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF AN ACTIVE RWY. I WAS RELOADING THE FMS FOR THE NEW RWY. WHEN I LOOKED UP, THE CAPT WAS HALFWAY ACROSS THE RWY WE HAD BEEN TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF. WE CONTINUED ACROSS AND STOPPED ON THE OTHER SIDE. ATC ISSUED CONTINUED INSTRUCTIONS WITHOUT MENTION OF THE INCURSION. FLT CONTINUED WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE DISTR OF COURSE WAS THAT BOTH PLTS WERE NOT WATCHING OUTSIDE DUE TO THE RWY CHANGE. THE A300 REQUIRES SEVERAL CHKS AND CHANGES WHEN A RWY CHANGE IS ISSUED. UNFORTUNATELY, STOPPING ON AN ACTIVE TXWY WOULD NOT BE AN OPTION. PERHAPS ALL CHANGES COULD BE DELAYED UNTIL A STOP IS APPROPRIATE -- SO THAT BOTH PLTS' EYES WERE OUTSIDE AT ALL TIMES.
