Narrative:

Performed a precautionary shutdown of the #1 engine due to low oil pressure readings. Declared an emergency, landed at bwi without incident. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the low oil pressure was caused by loss of oil quantity when an engine oil seal blew. Maintenance replaced the seal and the problem was solved.

Title: DH-8A CREW SHUT DOWN #1 ENG BECAUSE OF LOSS OF OIL QUANTITY AND LOW OIL PRESSURE.

Narrative: PERFORMED A PRECAUTIONARY SHUTDOWN OF THE #1 ENG DUE TO LOW OIL PRESSURE READINGS. DECLARED AN EMER, LANDED AT BWI WITHOUT INCIDENT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE LOW OIL PRESSURE WAS CAUSED BY LOSS OF OIL QUANTITY WHEN AN ENG OIL SEAL BLEW. MAINT REPLACED THE SEAL AND THE PROB WAS SOLVED.
