Narrative:

Established communications with pushback crew. Received pushback clearance from ramp control, and instructed to push back deep in alley to avoid aircraft pushing at top of alley. Advised ground crew of instructions, released parking brake. Pushback commenced normally. As aircraft moved back and began turning left, wingtip struck tail (APU shroud) of aircraft parked on opposite concourse. Other aircraft was unlighted, though ramp was lighted. Returned to gate. At no time was either engine started. Conditions were dark (night) and dry. There were no known injuries to passenger or carrier personnel.
