Narrative:
At 5000 ft, flight attendant called to report rubber smell in aft cabin. Chicago departure cleared us to climb to 9000 ft. Captain began to troubleshoot problem referring to red book - no improvement noted. Declared emergency and landed on runway 9R at ord. Overweight landing -- 131900 pounds. Checked over by fire crews and taxied back to gate.
