Narrative:

Cleared to taxi to runway 23 from ramp via taxiway J. Crossed both runways 15L/right and proceeded on. Saw runway 23 CAT 1 sign, but not the lines painted on taxiway. The captain and I thought it was the ILS hold short line, but with VMC conditions moved up to just short of the runway. Upon contacting toronto tower, were advised that we had encroached over the runway 23 hold short line 'a couple hundred ft back.' they said it wasn't a big deal and that an official report was not necessary. The captain and I decided to fill out a NASA report regardless.
