Narrative:

I am a type rated captain to fly DA10 aircraft. At the time of this event, I was operating the radios and performing the duties of the PNF. After contacting niagara falls ground/tower, we were given clearance to taxi to runway 24. Runway 24 and runway 28R have a beginning point that is almost the same. There is no point to hold short of runway 24 without holding short of runway 28R. One has to cross runway 28R to get to runway 24. Captain flying started taxiing and crossed runway 28R into position on runway 24. Niagara ground/tower made a comment about our position on runway 24. The captain flying said that he thought ground/tower told us to taxi into position. This was not the case. I have never heard ground/tower at any airport give 'position and hold' from a starting point at a FBO. I watched the pilot taxi into position thinking nothing was wrong until he actually entered runway 24. There were no traffic conflicts. I never thought about the relationship of the runways with the single hold short line for runway 28R and runway 24. I consider myself very safety oriented in regard to ground operations and amazed myself that I thought nothing wrong was happening. I should have taken the time to understand the unusual taxiway/runway layout and communicated the situation to the PF. I didn't think anything was wrong and I should have been focused on the possibility of something being wrong.

Title: DA10 CREW HAD A RWY INCURSION AT IAG.

Narrative: I AM A TYPE RATED CAPT TO FLY DA10 ACFT. AT THE TIME OF THIS EVENT, I WAS OPERATING THE RADIOS AND PERFORMING THE DUTIES OF THE PNF. AFTER CONTACTING NIAGARA FALLS GND/TWR, WE WERE GIVEN CLRNC TO TAXI TO RWY 24. RWY 24 AND RWY 28R HAVE A BEGINNING POINT THAT IS ALMOST THE SAME. THERE IS NO POINT TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 24 WITHOUT HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 28R. ONE HAS TO CROSS RWY 28R TO GET TO RWY 24. CAPT FLYING STARTED TAXIING AND CROSSED RWY 28R INTO POS ON RWY 24. NIAGARA GND/TWR MADE A COMMENT ABOUT OUR POSITION ON RWY 24. THE CAPT FLYING SAID THAT HE THOUGHT GND/TWR TOLD US TO TAXI INTO POS. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. I HAVE NEVER HEARD GND/TWR AT ANY ARPT GIVE 'POS AND HOLD' FROM A STARTING POINT AT A FBO. I WATCHED THE PLT TAXI INTO POS THINKING NOTHING WAS WRONG UNTIL HE ACTUALLY ENTERED RWY 24. THERE WERE NO TFC CONFLICTS. I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE RWYS WITH THE SINGLE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 28R AND RWY 24. I CONSIDER MYSELF VERY SAFETY ORIENTED IN REGARD TO GND OPS AND AMAZED MYSELF THAT I THOUGHT NOTHING WRONG WAS HAPPENING. I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE TIME TO UNDERSTAND THE UNUSUAL TXWY/RWY LAYOUT AND COMMUNICATED THE SIT TO THE PF. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING WAS WRONG AND I SHOULD HAVE BEEN FOCUSED ON THE POSSIBILITY OF SOMETHING BEING WRONG.
