Narrative:

While sitting at gate we felt a bang on the aircraft. Shortly thereafter we were told by the ground personnel that our aircraft was struck in the tail by a 777 being towed behind us. We had the jetbridge brought back to the aircraft and after inspection we found the rudder completely severed by the wing of the 777. No injuries to passenger or crew and we later continued our trip with another aircraft. Ord chief pilot was contacted and informed of the incident.
