Narrative:

Flight brief from gai to poa. Spoke to briefer, asked specifically about any sept/tue related restrs. He gave me the restrs for nyc as well as those north of fredrick, md. When airborne about 20 mi south of west point, I told ATC that I wished to circle the point at 2000 ft. I asked if there were any current flight restrs over west point. He said he would check and get back to me. He came back with 'the restr area is hot but there are no restrs over west point.' problem: there was a football game at west point requiring a 3000 ft/3 mi separation. Solution: FAA briefers and ATC should be made aware of these open-air gatherings.

Title: MU2 PLT ENTERED TFR AIRSPACE AFTER BOTH THE FSS BRIEFER AND THE ZNY RADAR CTLR KNEW NOTHING OF THE RESTR.

HE SAID HE WOULD CHK AND GET BACK TO ME. HE CAME BACK WITH 'THE RESTR AREA IS HOT BUT THERE ARE NO RESTRS OVER WEST POINT.' PROB: THERE WAS A FOOTBALL GAME AT WEST POINT REQUIRING A 3000 FT/3 MI SEPARATION. SOLUTION: FAA BRIEFERS AND ATC SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF THESE OPEN-AIR GATHERINGS.
