Narrative:

We were cleared into position and hold behind landing traffic on runway 8L. First officer read back clearance as 'position and hold.' there was no corrective challenge to our readback nor to our taking position and hold on runway 8L.we were then given a clearance for takeoff on runway 8L. On takeoff roll, we were told to cancel our takeoff clearance. At this time an aircraft behind us was told to go around. We were advised by the controller that her clearance to us was to taxi in position and hold runway 8R. Then she reissued our clearance for takeoff runway 8L which we did. Supplemental information from acn 559239: ATC did not challenge or correct.

Title: B737 CREW AT HNL UNDERSTOOD AND READ BACK CLRNC TO TAXI INTO POS ON RWY 8L. TFC ON FINAL TO RWY 8L WAS SENT AROUND.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED INTO POS AND HOLD BEHIND LNDG TFC ON RWY 8L. FO READ BACK CLRNC AS 'POS AND HOLD.' THERE WAS NO CORRECTIVE CHALLENGE TO OUR READBACK NOR TO OUR TAKING POS AND HOLD ON RWY 8L.WE WERE THEN GIVEN A CLRNC FOR TKOF ON RWY 8L. ON TKOF ROLL, WE WERE TOLD TO CANCEL OUR TKOF CLRNC. AT THIS TIME AN ACFT BEHIND US WAS TOLD TO GAR. WE WERE ADVISED BY THE CTLR THAT HER CLRNC TO US WAS TO TAXI IN POS AND HOLD RWY 8R. THEN SHE REISSUED OUR CLRNC FOR TKOF RWY 8L WHICH WE DID. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 559239: ATC DID NOT CHALLENGE OR CORRECT.
