Narrative:

On lgb arrival STAR, over los angeles mountain range, on descent into lgb, going through FL200, cockpit and cabin reported the strong smell of electrical smoke. We turned off galley power, phones, radar, and cabin recirculation fan. Smell persisted for a short time and then disappeared. Advised los angeles we would continue to lgb with a request to expedite. Maintenance found nothing wrong with the electrical or air conditioning system. This may have been caused by the fires in the mountains above the los angeles basin. I do recall going through a thick cloud layer on the descent. This may have been smoke from the fires.
