Narrative:

Given a vector, by boston approach, which positioned the aircraft on a left downwind for runway 29. Shortly thereafter, observed a departing VFR cherokee within 500 ft off of the nose of our aircraft and passing through our altitude. This occurred after we were cleared for the visual approach by boston approach and had contacted the tower. We were descending to the tpa. Visual contact was made by both aircraft which resulted in a slight evasive bank.
