Narrative:

On aug/thu/02, at approximately XA00 I received notification to remove and replace the flight recorder on aircraft X, (fleet) due to thrust reverser problems. Flight recorder was to be read. Part number specified was air carrier X's, rcn XXXX. Part was removed and replaced, functional check was normal. Incorrect installation was noted on aug/sat/02, method unknown. After notification of incorrect part installation I removed and installed with correct part during aircraft's next visit at my station.

Title: A B737-300 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH AN INCORRECT FLT DATA RECORDER INSTALLED.
