Narrative:
Performed maintenance to nosewheel light. Closed nose gear doors after maintenance. Aircraft made air return because of vibration. Suspect 1 or both gear doors became unlatched in-flight. Since this has happened many times before and will happen again, suggest making 'nose door secured' a required inspection item.

Title: MD80 CREW RETURNED TO THE DEP STATION WITH VIBRATION BECAUSE THE MECH DID NOT GET THE NOSE GEAR DOORS PROPERLY CLOSED AFTER MAINT.
Narrative: PERFORMED MAINT TO NOSEWHEEL LIGHT. CLOSED NOSE GEAR DOORS AFTER MAINT. ACFT MADE AIR RETURN BECAUSE OF VIBRATION. SUSPECT 1 OR BOTH GEAR DOORS BECAME UNLATCHED INFLT. SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES BEFORE AND WILL HAPPEN AGAIN, SUGGEST MAKING 'NOSE DOOR SECURED' A REQUIRED INSPECTION ITEM.
