Narrative:

Both captain and first officer called forbes field in sight. ZKC cleared us for visual approach runway 21 at foe. FMS was set up with centerline for foe runway 21. Once getting close to the field, it was determined that we were at the wrong airport. We flew by and sidestepped to the next airport. FMS centerline crossed billiard field and the layout of both billiard and forbes are similar. Billiard is smaller and appeared to be about the correct distance away. Forbes tower was contacted but not billiard. No other traffic was involved. When making a visual approach from the northeast to runways 21 at foe, pilots need to be made aware of the location of billiard. They should be monitored so as not to attempt to land at billiard, the tower controllers stated this is a common problem. They followed procedures correctly as did ZKC. We accepted the visual and made the error.

Title: C560 FLC BECAME DISORIENTED DURING A RWY 21 VISUAL APCH TO FOE RESULTING IN LINING UP WITH RWY 22 AT TOP.

Narrative: BOTH CAPT AND FO CALLED FORBES FIELD IN SIGHT. ZKC CLRED US FOR VISUAL APCH RWY 21 AT FOE. FMS WAS SET UP WITH CTRLINE FOR FOE RWY 21. ONCE GETTING CLOSE TO THE FIELD, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT WE WERE AT THE WRONG ARPT. WE FLEW BY AND SIDESTEPPED TO THE NEXT ARPT. FMS CTRLINE CROSSED BILLIARD FIELD AND THE LAYOUT OF BOTH BILLIARD AND FORBES ARE SIMILAR. BILLIARD IS SMALLER AND APPEARED TO BE ABOUT THE CORRECT DISTANCE AWAY. FORBES TWR WAS CONTACTED BUT NOT BILLIARD. NO OTHER TFC WAS INVOLVED. WHEN MAKING A VISUAL APCH FROM THE NE TO RWYS 21 AT FOE, PLTS NEED TO BE MADE AWARE OF THE LOCATION OF BILLIARD. THEY SHOULD BE MONITORED SO AS NOT TO ATTEMPT TO LAND AT BILLIARD, THE TWR CTLRS STATED THIS IS A COMMON PROB. THEY FOLLOWED PROCS CORRECTLY AS DID ZKC. WE ACCEPTED THE VISUAL AND MADE THE ERROR.
