Narrative:

Approach control directed us to descent below the MEA of 11000 ft to 9000 ft. My experience with the route showed the previous commercial chart 10-1 guatemala city-gua chart showed the MEA between tilot and rabinol, rab, at 11000 ft and the MEA from rab to aur, aurora, at 9000 ft. The new revision jun/xa/02 changed the MEA tilot to rab to 12000 ft and MEA from rab to aur to 11000 ft. We were VFR and clear of all terrain and I queried the controller and he replied that the correct MEA from rab to aur is 9000 ft and that the gua MEA altitudes were incorrect on the jun/xa/02 revision. We complied to all ATC instructions and talked to the ATC supervisor after landing. He reported that the commercial chart revision. The correct MEA from tilot to rab is 11000 ft and the MEA from rab to aur is 9000 ft and commercial aeronautical chart provider needs to be contacted for correction. Callback conversation with representative from the commercial aeronautical chart provider revealed the following information: it was revealed that the jun/xa/02 revision of the guatemala city, guat (H/left) area chart was in error on several accounts regarding MEA's. The following is an attempt to identify those errors pertinent to this report. Airway, fix to fix, published MEA, and correct MEA, as follows: A770/UA770, coban-rabinal, 11000 ft, 9000 ft. A770/UA770, rabinal-laaurora, 11000 ft, 9000 ft. G765/UG765, tilot-rabinal, 12000 ft, 11000 ft. R630/UR630, enama-laaurora, 12000 ft, 11000 ft. The MEA's in error are notamed as such, a corrected revision is expected to be distributed on aug/xa/02.
