Narrative:

Was taxiing out of cargo ramp on taxiway M approaching runway 5 ground control stated, 'aircraft on 4 mi final, you are cleared across runway 5, turn right on taxiway a to runway 5.' in a hurry to cross runway, I (captain)) saw yellow taxi line bear right and pavement of what looked to be taxiway off to my right across the runway. The angle we were at made the blue taxi lights of taxiway a appear to be for this taxiway. I turned right but as I crossed the centerline of runway 5 I saw it was an old closed taxiway and at this point could see the yellow X and red closed sign. I immediately made a right 180 degrees on the runway and notified ground of my mistake. We exited the runway at taxiway M, but tower had already issued go around instructions for aircraft Y. We were probably on the runway for 15-30 seconds. After turning around on the cargo ramp I proceeded back to runway 5 hold line on taxiway M, we were later given instructions to cross and then take off without incident. Ground control did not appear upset over the issue. Causes: unfamiliar with airport, nighttime (restr visibility) lack of yellow flashing lights to signal closure of taxiway and rushed into crossing an active runway. I should have not accepted clearance, stopped and waited for more spacing.

Title: CARGO B757 CAPT INADVERTENTLY STARTED TO ENTER CLOSED TXWY WHILE XING RWY DURING TAXI OUT, RESULTING IN ANOTHER ACFT BEING SENT AROUND. THE CAPT MADE 180 DEG TURN ON RWY TO FIND PROPER EXIT TXWY.

Narrative: WAS TAXIING OUT OF CARGO RAMP ON TXWY M APCHING RWY 5 GND CTL STATED, 'ACFT ON 4 MI FINAL, YOU ARE CLRED ACROSS RWY 5, TURN R ON TXWY A TO RWY 5.' IN A HURRY TO CROSS RWY, I (CAPT)) SAW YELLOW TAXI LINE BEAR R AND PAVEMENT OF WHAT LOOKED TO BE TXWY OFF TO MY R ACROSS THE RWY. THE ANGLE WE WERE AT MADE THE BLUE TAXI LIGHTS OF TXWY A APPEAR TO BE FOR THIS TXWY. I TURNED R BUT AS I CROSSED THE CTRLINE OF RWY 5 I SAW IT WAS AN OLD CLOSED TXWY AND AT THIS POINT COULD SEE THE YELLOW X AND RED CLOSED SIGN. I IMMEDIATELY MADE A R 180 DEGS ON THE RWY AND NOTIFIED GND OF MY MISTAKE. WE EXITED THE RWY AT TXWY M, BUT TWR HAD ALREADY ISSUED GAR INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACFT Y. WE WERE PROBABLY ON THE RWY FOR 15-30 SECONDS. AFTER TURNING AROUND ON THE CARGO RAMP I PROCEEDED BACK TO RWY 5 HOLD LINE ON TXWY M, WE WERE LATER GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO CROSS AND THEN TAKE OFF WITHOUT INCIDENT. GND CTL DID NOT APPEAR UPSET OVER THE ISSUE. CAUSES: UNFAMILIAR WITH ARPT, NIGHTTIME (RESTR VISIBILITY) LACK OF YELLOW FLASHING LIGHTS TO SIGNAL CLOSURE OF TXWY AND RUSHED INTO XING AN ACTIVE RWY. I SHOULD HAVE NOT ACCEPTED CLRNC, STOPPED AND WAITED FOR MORE SPACING.
