Narrative:

Purpose of report is to bring up issue of poor illumination of nd, pfd and FCU displays. Thru observation, I believe that as the units are used the intensity diminishes to the point they become very difficult to see, particularly during bright, glare conditions. While not the only issue involved, the displays on this aircraft, on this day contributed significantly to a thunderstorm top encounter I do not wish to repeat and I believe it is a safety issue. This condition is not unique to only this plane but its present condition is an accurate example.
