Narrative:

ZDV was slowly opening sectors after the mid shift. Someone in the control room entered a command to decombine sectors incorrectly and opened all sectors in the control room at once. The controller sitting at a combined sector is not notified and he/she will not receive handoffs to his combined sectors other than the physical sector he is working. The controller will experience the same problem when attempting handoffs to other combined sectors. This situation compromises safety because the receiving controller does not see the handoff which can lead to airspace deviation and possible traffic conflictions. I have proposed a simple logic check to prevent this command entry.

Title: OPENING THE REQUIRED SECTORS AT THE END OF A MID SHIFT AT ZDV ARTCC WAS COMPUTER COMMANDED INCORRECTLY.

Narrative: ZDV WAS SLOWLY OPENING SECTORS AFTER THE MID SHIFT. SOMEONE IN THE CTL ROOM ENTERED A COMMAND TO DECOMBINE SECTORS INCORRECTLY AND OPENED ALL SECTORS IN THE CTL ROOM AT ONCE. THE CTLR SITTING AT A COMBINED SECTOR IS NOT NOTIFIED AND HE/SHE WILL NOT RECEIVE HDOFS TO HIS COMBINED SECTORS OTHER THAN THE PHYSICAL SECTOR HE IS WORKING. THE CTLR WILL EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROB WHEN ATTEMPTING HDOFS TO OTHER COMBINED SECTORS. THIS SIT COMPROMISES SAFETY BECAUSE THE RECEIVING CTLR DOES NOT SEE THE HDOF WHICH CAN LEAD TO AIRSPACE DEV AND POSSIBLE TFC CONFLICTIONS.
