Narrative:

First officer noticed brake wear indicator pin missing on 1 wheel set. I wrote this up and called MM. MM insisted that this was not a write-up as the pin was not required. They said I should sign the book off myself as ok and that we should not write these up again. I did so and then reviewed fom and can find no guidance on this. I believe if I find a discrepancy on a plane I should write it up and allow MM to resolve. I also can see no authority/authorized for me to complete a logbook coupon with anything other than an error or deferral notation.
