Narrative:

We taxied to the approach end of runway 22. We were then cleared by tower to taxi into position and hold, air carrier aircraft would be departing downfield. He was waiting for departure traffic spacing. I stopped on the runway at a 45 degree angle to provide a view of the final approach to runway 22 for the first officer. I noticed an aircraft on TCAS which appeared to be on base at 1000 AGL. I asked the first officer to spot the aircraft, he said the aircraft was turning final. Air carrier aircraft was cleared for takeoff. When the TCAS was indicating 700 and 500 for the aircraft on final I asked the first officer if the aircraft was landing, he stated both times it was still landing. I initiated a turn off the runway and advised the tower we were clearing the runway. Tower asked if we needed assistance. I stated no I just didn't want to situation on the runway with that aircraft on short final. As I turned the aircraft around towards the runway, the other aircraft, a lear jet, landed on the runway exactly where we were in position. We subsequently departed after waiting for another aircraft arrival. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter said when they taxied off the runway to let the lear jet land, the tower controller asked the SF3 crew if they had problem. He said then there was total silence on the frequency for about a half a minute. Reporter thinks the controller forgot about the lear jet when they were put into position. Reporter said when the lear jet cleared the runway, they were cleared for takeoff and nothing more was said.

Title: AMA LCL CTLR PUT AN SF3 ACR INTO POSITION AND HOLD WHILE ANOTHER ACR DEPARTED DOWN FIELD. WHILE IN POSITION, THE SF3 CREW SPOTTED A LEAR JET ON BASE AND TAXIED OFF THE RWY.

Narrative: WE TAXIED TO THE APCH END OF RWY 22. WE WERE THEN CLRED BY TWR TO TAXI INTO POSITION AND HOLD, ACR ACFT WOULD BE DEPARTING DOWNFIELD. HE WAS WAITING FOR DEP TFC SPACING. I STOPPED ON THE RWY AT A 45 DEG ANGLE TO PROVIDE A VIEW OF THE FINAL APCH TO RWY 22 FOR THE FO. I NOTICED AN ACFT ON TCAS WHICH APPEARED TO BE ON BASE AT 1000 AGL. I ASKED THE FO TO SPOT THE ACFT, HE SAID THE ACFT WAS TURNING FINAL. ACR ACFT WAS CLRED FOR TKOF. WHEN THE TCAS WAS INDICATING 700 AND 500 FOR THE ACFT ON FINAL I ASKED THE FO IF THE ACFT WAS LNDG, HE STATED BOTH TIMES IT WAS STILL LNDG. I INITIATED A TURN OFF THE RWY AND ADVISED THE TWR WE WERE CLRING THE RWY. TWR ASKED IF WE NEEDED ASSISTANCE. I STATED NO I JUST DIDN'T WANT TO SIT ON THE RWY WITH THAT ACFT ON SHORT FINAL. AS I TURNED THE ACFT AROUND TOWARDS THE RWY, THE OTHER ACFT, A LEAR JET, LANDED ON THE RWY EXACTLY WHERE WE WERE IN POSITION. WE SUBSEQUENTLY DEPARTED AFTER WAITING FOR ANOTHER ACFT ARR. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR SAID WHEN THEY TAXIED OFF THE RWY TO LET THE LEAR JET LAND, THE TWR CTLR ASKED THE SF3 CREW IF THEY HAD PROB. HE SAID THEN THERE WAS TOTAL SILENCE ON THE FREQ FOR ABOUT A HALF A MINUTE. RPTR THINKS THE CTLR FORGOT ABOUT THE LEAR JET WHEN THEY WERE PUT INTO POSITION. RPTR SAID WHEN THE LEAR JET CLRED THE RWY, THEY WERE CLRED FOR TKOF AND NOTHING MORE WAS SAID.
