Narrative:

During crew change in ZZZ1, maintenance was working on an MEL item #27-12-01 (aileron trim system), an entry had been made into aircraft logbook and prior to departure all items were complied with. After reviewing the MEL procedure and having departed ZZZ, it was discovered that an entry into the aircraft logbook should have been made by maintenance. The MEL states that the aileron trim system must be verified in the neutral position prior to each takeoff and is to be checked off by maintenance. The notation of an 'M' indicates a maintenance function.
