Narrative:

Event began during visual approach to runway 26L at ont. Traffic on short final was an F27 and I was 6 mi in trail. I had the traffic in sight and verified his exiting the runway prior to my landing. After the F27 cleared runway 26L, I became concentrated on the landing. I was cleared to land with approval for a long landing. I did not notice the F27 had exited at approximately the midpoint of the runway. I performed the long landing and was exiting the appropriate high speed taxiway (taxiway F). While making the left turn off the runway, tower advised me to taxi to the gate and monitor ground on the way. As I was exiting the runway, my speed was approximately 20 KTS. I was acknowledging the previous transmission to the tower as I noticed the F27 braking hard on the taxiway (taxiway south). I also applied brakes to ensure separation and, as I was still transmitting, advised tower that I had the F27 in sight. I then switched to ground frequency. I noticed that the F27 had stopped, so I applied power and taxied to the gate as instructed. In retrospect, I believe that a little more vigilance on my behalf would have prevented the situation from occurring. Tower, however, also played a role in creating the situation. I should have been instructed to either hold short of taxiway south upon exiting the runway, or to continue taxiing while the F27 was instructed to hold for me. There was obviously no communication between ground and tower concerning myself and the taxiing aircraft. The F27 was also behind and to my left, so they were in my 'blind spot' while I was exiting. I will exercise more caution when conducting landing and taxi operations.

Title: A C208 PLT, UPON EXITING THE RWY AT ONT, CAME FACE-TO-FACE WITH ANOTHER ACFT ON THE PARALLEL TXWY.

Narrative: EVENT BEGAN DURING VISUAL APCH TO RWY 26L AT ONT. TFC ON SHORT FINAL WAS AN F27 AND I WAS 6 MI IN TRAIL. I HAD THE TFC IN SIGHT AND VERIFIED HIS EXITING THE RWY PRIOR TO MY LNDG. AFTER THE F27 CLRED RWY 26L, I BECAME CONCENTRATED ON THE LNDG. I WAS CLRED TO LAND WITH APPROVAL FOR A LONG LNDG. I DID NOT NOTICE THE F27 HAD EXITED AT APPROX THE MIDPOINT OF THE RWY. I PERFORMED THE LONG LNDG AND WAS EXITING THE APPROPRIATE HIGH SPD TXWY (TXWY F). WHILE MAKING THE L TURN OFF THE RWY, TWR ADVISED ME TO TAXI TO THE GATE AND MONITOR GND ON THE WAY. AS I WAS EXITING THE RWY, MY SPD WAS APPROX 20 KTS. I WAS ACKNOWLEDGING THE PREVIOUS XMISSION TO THE TWR AS I NOTICED THE F27 BRAKING HARD ON THE TXWY (TXWY S). I ALSO APPLIED BRAKES TO ENSURE SEPARATION AND, AS I WAS STILL XMITTING, ADVISED TWR THAT I HAD THE F27 IN SIGHT. I THEN SWITCHED TO GND FREQ. I NOTICED THAT THE F27 HAD STOPPED, SO I APPLIED PWR AND TAXIED TO THE GATE AS INSTRUCTED. IN RETROSPECT, I BELIEVE THAT A LITTLE MORE VIGILANCE ON MY BEHALF WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THE SIT FROM OCCURRING. TWR, HOWEVER, ALSO PLAYED A ROLE IN CREATING THE SIT. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO EITHER HOLD SHORT OF TXWY S UPON EXITING THE RWY, OR TO CONTINUE TAXIING WHILE THE F27 WAS INSTRUCTED TO HOLD FOR ME. THERE WAS OBVIOUSLY NO COM BTWN GND AND TWR CONCERNING MYSELF AND THE TAXIING ACFT. THE F27 WAS ALSO BEHIND AND TO MY L, SO THEY WERE IN MY 'BLIND SPOT' WHILE I WAS EXITING. I WILL EXERCISE MORE CAUTION WHEN CONDUCTING LNDG AND TAXI OPS.
