Narrative:

I was getting my indoctrination flight in a beech jet when we crossed the runway (runway 21) hold short lines. Mkc ground instructed us to taxi to runway 21. The captain began to taxi to runway 21 and called for the taxi checklist. Being unfamiliar with the airplane my head was down reading and performing the checklist items. As we approached the runway, I looked up and saw the captain approaching the hold short lines quickly. I told him that we were to hold short. He stopped the airplane, but we had already crossed the hold short lines. He was under the impression we were cleared to taxi to runway 19 (which is the 'normal' runway for takeoff). Factors involved: my unfamiliarity with the airplane and checklist, and my captain's 'usual' taxi instructions changed to something different.

Title: BE40 CREW HAD A RWY INCURSION AT MKC.

Narrative: I WAS GETTING MY INDOCTRINATION FLT IN A BEECH JET WHEN WE CROSSED THE RWY (RWY 21) HOLD SHORT LINES. MKC GND INSTRUCTED US TO TAXI TO RWY 21. THE CAPT BEGAN TO TAXI TO RWY 21 AND CALLED FOR THE TAXI CHKLIST. BEING UNFAMILIAR WITH THE AIRPLANE MY HEAD WAS DOWN READING AND PERFORMING THE CHKLIST ITEMS. AS WE APCHED THE RWY, I LOOKED UP AND SAW THE CAPT APCHING THE HOLD SHORT LINES QUICKLY. I TOLD HIM THAT WE WERE TO HOLD SHORT. HE STOPPED THE AIRPLANE, BUT WE HAD ALREADY CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINES. HE WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 19 (WHICH IS THE 'NORMAL' RWY FOR TKOF). FACTORS INVOLVED: MY UNFAMILIARITY WITH THE AIRPLANE AND CHKLIST, AND MY CAPT'S 'USUAL' TAXI INSTRUCTIONS CHANGED TO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
