Narrative:

Pushed back from gate in phl. Instructed to taxi and hold short runway 27R at taxiway east. Looking at the commercial chart, taxiing from gate leads directly to taxiway east with no other possibilities. We inadvertently misread the taxiway signs, continued straight through, but ended up on taxiway H. We then immediately crossed runway 17/35, after clearing. Runway 17/35 was active, but no aircraft were on approach or using it at the time. Summary: we taxied on the wrong taxiway and mistakenly crossed an active runway. Contributing factor: poor 10-9 airfield depiction, poor taxiway markings, morning sun in our eyes, checklist distraction, poor attention to detail. Supplemental information from acn 543394: we had inadvertently misread taxiway signs and positioned ourselves on taxiway H. Recommend repaint/clearly identify holding points, and emphasize commercial chart not drawn to scale.
