Narrative:

On departing the gate at msp, I was distraction by FAA inspector giving us a route check, handling open logbook item, deicing, getting slush correction for active runway, etc. My routine is to stand in the doorway until agent closes the entry door, then lock the cockpit door before sitting down. Having the jump seat rider took me out of my routine and the new checklist response is not yet integrated into my brain. The new checklist response should prevent this in the future.
