Narrative:

First officer flying the aircraft. Descent was initiated in time to make a steep, but stabilized approach. He intended to level off at FAF altitude. He unintentionally continued the descent to approximately 1000 ft afl, with the thrust levers at idle. I pointed out the lower than desired altitude and thrust combination. A terrain GPWS warning followed. He corrected back to glide path and completed the approach and landing. Debriefed after flight, emphasizing techniques for flying visual approachs, the GPWS, and stabilized approach.
