Narrative:

I launched late due to resolving fuel problems. After opening IFR with fnt approach, I was informed that the proposed flight at XA00 had expired. I was granted an abbreviated clearance. After crossing fnt, controller gave me a 1 min report that an abbreviated clearance had no pilot data. I planned to give pilot data to FSS when I called for PIREP/WX. I heard no further calls while computing wind. Approximately 2 mins later (8 mi west of fnt) I saw a twin(?) closing at my altitude, nwbound. I immediately began descent and other aircraft immediately began ascent. If I had taken no action I would have passed behind the other aircraft. I called fnt to confirm contact and was informed that I had missed contact, I suspected fixation on computing wind and/or radio malfunction. I had no further radio trouble, so fixation is most probably cause. During the next 30 mins, I concentrated on my scan and radio least the problem repeat. About 20 mi south of uxn at 10 degrees, my cabin door popped open, though it was checked locked and latched before flight. I reported the problem and requested landing at air driven generator. Following a personal rule that considers 3 anomalies an abort condition, I terminated flight at air driven generator, ate lunch, and tried to calmly start from scratch before flying to destination gso.

Title: SMA PLT ON IFR TAKES PRECAUTIONARY EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID A TWIN CONVERGING AT HIS SAME ALT. ATC HAD TRIED TO CONTACT HIM WITH AN ADVISORY.

Narrative: I LAUNCHED LATE DUE TO RESOLVING FUEL PROBS. AFTER OPENING IFR WITH FNT APCH, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE PROPOSED FLT AT XA00 HAD EXPIRED. I WAS GRANTED AN ABBREVIATED CLRNC. AFTER XING FNT, CTLR GAVE ME A 1 MIN RPT THAT AN ABBREVIATED CLRNC HAD NO PLT DATA. I PLANNED TO GIVE PLT DATA TO FSS WHEN I CALLED FOR PIREP/WX. I HEARD NO FURTHER CALLS WHILE COMPUTING WIND. APPROX 2 MINS LATER (8 MI W OF FNT) I SAW A TWIN(?) CLOSING AT MY ALT, NWBOUND. I IMMEDIATELY BEGAN DSCNT AND OTHER ACFT IMMEDIATELY BEGAN ASCENT. IF I HAD TAKEN NO ACTION I WOULD HAVE PASSED BEHIND THE OTHER ACFT. DURING THE NEXT 30 MINS, I CONCENTRATED ON MY SCAN AND RADIO LEAST THE PROB REPEAT. ABOUT 20 MI S OF UXN AT 10 DEGS, MY CABIN DOOR POPPED OPEN, THOUGH IT WAS CHKED LOCKED AND LATCHED BEFORE FLT. I RPTED THE PROB AND REQUESTED LNDG AT ADG. FOLLOWING A PERSONAL RULE THAT CONSIDERS 3 ANOMALIES AN ABORT CONDITION, I TERMINATED FLT AT ADG, ATE LUNCH, AND TRIED TO CALMLY START FROM SCRATCH BEFORE FLYING TO DEST GSO.
