Narrative:

First officer pointed out that terrain on route of flight abc-eze-mia is well above 10000 ft in areas outside escape rtes. I think the common assumption is that one is safe to 10000 ft outside escape route areas. Escape route on page XXXX says it's ok to descend to 10000 ft once established on low altitude airway. Terrain appears to be much higher than 10000 ft directly under low altitude airway.

Title: B777-200 CAPT POINTS OUT THAT SOUTH AMERICAN RTES HAVE TERRAIN HIGHER THAN 10000 FT. THIS IS THE ALT THAT THE COMPANY FLT MANUAL INDICATES CAN BE USED FOR LOW ALT RTES.
