Narrative:

Cleared for takeoff from intersection M1, runway 9L mia. Had #1 shut down for fuel conservation. Started engine as we taxied onto the runway. Another aircraft was on landing roll. Took #1 engine out of feather, still rolling, added power, took off. Passenger in back wanted to know why we had rolled 500 ft down runway with #1 in feather. On hindsight, maybe should have started engine while stopped instead of creating anxiety from rolling without engine on speed.

Narrative: CLRED FOR TKOF FROM INTXN M1, RWY 9L MIA. HAD #1 SHUT DOWN FOR FUEL CONSERVATION. STARTED ENG AS WE TAXIED ONTO THE RWY. ANOTHER ACFT WAS ON LNDG ROLL. TOOK #1 ENG OUT OF FEATHER, STILL ROLLING, ADDED PWR, TOOK OFF. PAX IN BACK WANTED TO KNOW WHY WE HAD ROLLED 500 FT DOWN RWY WITH #1 IN FEATHER. ON HINDSIGHT, MAYBE SHOULD HAVE STARTED ENG WHILE STOPPED INSTEAD OF CREATING ANXIETY FROM ROLLING WITHOUT ENG ON SPD.
