Narrative:

Shortly after takeoff, aft jump seat flight attendant reported electrical smoke smell aircraft aft right. Smell had previously been detected on ground while boarding, resulting in 1 1/2 hour maintenance delay (contract maintenance in ZZZ). Air return to uneventful overweight landing accomplished (reference captain's irregularity report). Company maintenance transported from ZZZ1 to work on aircraft overnight. Next morning, problem component was found to be recirculating fan. Fan disabled, aircraft ferried from ZZZ to ZZZ2 late morning of mar/xa/02.
