Narrative:

Departing santiago, chile, feb/xa/02, at XA59, destined for dallas ft worth, tx, arriving mar/xb/02. Family of 4 were seated in main cabin. When we were still at the gate, during boarding, this family was lying against the bulkhead, presumably 'trying out' their 'bed' for in-flight. I mentioned to them, that they would not be able to lie on the floor, especially when the seat belt sign was on. They said nothing, seemingly to ignore what I said. After takeoff, when we were still ascending, they were already out of their seats. I said that the seat belt sign was still on, they seemed to continue to ignore me. Sometime later, one of my flying partners noticed the 2 boys (approximately 10 yrs old) were on the floor. She told them that was not permissible. The father, mr X, was quite nasty and said he had flown 40 yrs and has never had this problem. Mr X spoke perfect english and understood too, even though he is foreign. He said several times that my flying partner was like a 'civil servant,' but in round about terms said he wouldn't comply with her instructions. This went on for at least 1 or 2 more hours. The purser and 3 other flight attendants were involved. 5 flight attendants all told were involved. The paperwork was made out 'passenger disturbance.' purser and other male flight attendant asked for their passports for identify, they refused to show these. The purser did get their boarding stubs. 2 different times, cockpit crew members came out to speak to them. We also received 2 witnesses (passenger seated in row in back of them). It was disturbing to passenger around. A copy of the report was given to the man by the purser. Dfw met flight and talked to them, however the captain refused to press charges. They were originally going to be refused boarding on their flight to cdg (paris) later on that day, but were reinstated and went to paris on air carrier anyway!
