Narrative:

From back course ramp given rapid-fire instructions to 'taxi to runway 28 via taxiway a, taxiway P1, taxiway P, taxiway U.' other airline aircraft approached from right on taxiway P and held short of taxiway east, facing the utility building, with open ramps to left and right. I was confused. Looked at airport page and missed fine print note, taxiing through non movement area. Was amiably informed of such by controller. Stopped aircraft at taxiway P1/P intersection to get bearings. First officer helped clarify and find taxiway U. Taxi involves a right/left/right/left. Ramp has no painted taxi lanes. Non movement area is not marked by hash marks. Callback conversation with a bwi operations manager revealed the following information: the area in question has standard taxiway markings along with the standard non movement, yellow single/yellow dashed lines depicting the non movement areas from one terminal to another terminal.
