Narrative:

After starting takeoff, the left engine failed at about 50 KTS. After returning to the gate, there was significant visible damage to the blades in the front of the engine. Aircraft SF340 ge engine CT7-5A. 1 blade apparently had separated. The failure was apparently contained. Engine shipped by air carrier to ge for analysis.

Title: SF340 CREW HAD A CONTAINED ENG COMPRESSOR BLADE SEPARATION ON TKOF ROLL AT MSP.

Narrative: AFTER STARTING TKOF, THE L ENG FAILED AT ABOUT 50 KTS. AFTER RETURNING TO THE GATE, THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE BLADES IN THE FRONT OF THE ENG.
