Narrative:

I was on an IFR flight plan from ilm to hfd. Level at 7000 ft MSL, nebound on V-1 airway. After passing ATR VOR, I began to wonder why patuxent approach had not passed me off to dover approach or atlantic city approach. I called them, and waited while patuxent issued instructions to several other aircraft before finally calling me back. They asked who I was and what my position was, which was leeah intersection by then. They had obviously forgotten me. I lost radio contact with them, then switched to an acy approach frequency and called them up. He gave me a different transponder code, but was receiving no return from me. That is when I noticed my transponder was not sending any replies. By turning the unit off for 10 mins and back on, I was able to restore its operation. Was surprised that patuxent approach never noticed when it failed, and forgot me.
