Narrative:

After being cleared for departure on runway 17R at gfu and takeoff power set, I noticed poor acceleration and the aircraft pulled to the left. Rejected takeoff procedures were initiated at approximately 60-70 KIAS. Upon cockpit check, we found parking brake handle partially extended. Inspection of l-hand main gear revealed a flat tire and damaged rim. Runway was closed for approximately 1.5 hours for aircraft removal. I believe it was the failure to completely release the parking brake after engine run-up and takeoff clearance received, that caused the event. Contributing factors were unfamiliarity with actual aircraft ground handling characteristics, preoccupation with FMS data input. Corrective actions to be performed: training to proficiency in parking brake operations, aircraft ground handling characteristics. Also, stress that when new in the aircraft, extra time should be allotted for FMS data input, checklist completion and cockpit awareness.

Title: A BE40 CREW, DEPARTING GFK, REJECTED THEIR TKOF DUE TO SLOW ACCELERATION AND THE ACFT'S UNCONTROLLABLE PULL TO THE L.

Narrative: AFTER BEING CLRED FOR DEP ON RWY 17R AT GFU AND TKOF PWR SET, I NOTICED POOR ACCELERATION AND THE ACFT PULLED TO THE L. REJECTED TKOF PROCS WERE INITIATED AT APPROX 60-70 KIAS. UPON COCKPIT CHK, WE FOUND PARKING BRAKE HANDLE PARTIALLY EXTENDED. INSPECTION OF L-HAND MAIN GEAR REVEALED A FLAT TIRE AND DAMAGED RIM. RWY WAS CLOSED FOR APPROX 1.5 HRS FOR ACFT REMOVAL. I BELIEVE IT WAS THE FAILURE TO COMPLETELY RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE AFTER ENG RUN-UP AND TKOF CLRNC RECEIVED, THAT CAUSED THE EVENT. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE UNFAMILIARITY WITH ACTUAL ACFT GND HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS, PREOCCUPATION WITH FMS DATA INPUT. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS TO BE PERFORMED: TRAINING TO PROFICIENCY IN PARKING BRAKE OPS, ACFT GND HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS. ALSO, STRESS THAT WHEN NEW IN THE ACFT, EXTRA TIME SHOULD BE ALLOTTED FOR FMS DATA INPUT, CHKLIST COMPLETION AND COCKPIT AWARENESS.
