Narrative:

The mechanic called ready for push. As we were monitoring ground, I noticed the clock and gave into the temptation of holding the brake pedals and reset the parking brake for an on-time departure. Whilst waiting 1 or 2 mins for push clearance, the mechanic noticed our out time and proceeded to chew my butt because he hadn't cleared me yet. It's a safety issue and I had to agree with him. My friend SOP had been violated. This was a good heads up for me to stick to the book, despite other pressures and distrs.
