Narrative:

While in cruise at FL370, about 1 hour into flight, a flight attendant called and said there was a smell of smoke in the cabin and they asked an air carrier Y captain to help identify the problem. I asked to talk to this captain over the interphone. He said there was a smell of electrical smoke and asked the flight attendant to turn off the overhead lights. The smell of smoke was quickly gone and never returned. Smoke was never seen just smelled. Dispatch was notified. This was written up at lga.
