Narrative:
Misinterped taxi instructions from ewr airport ground control. Resulted in a conflict with another air carrier B737 taxiing on taxiway Q at intersection of txwys Q, right, and west. Caught sight of the other aircraft at last possible moment, narrowly avoiding collision. Several contributing factors such as: lengthy taxi instructions, poor lighting, ongoing checklists, crazed plexiglas side windows, nighttime hours.
