Narrative:

I had just stopped at the FBO in GA at bdr for a coffee break after a 2 1/2 hour cross country and was about to finish my final leg to dxr. I started up the plane and called ground. They told me to taxi to runway 24 via taxiway D. As I was taxiing, ground told me to pull to the left of taxiway D and complete my run-up off the taxiway so that a mooney behind me could pass. I pulled off and completed my runup. Taxiway D joins runways 24 and 29 at the point where they intersect and I became confused by the signs for the runways at this intersection. I thought that the sign pointing to runway 24 was telling me to taxi down a parallel taxiway (even though this taxiway was not in the AFD), so I followed this taxiway. As I proceeded, I realized that this was a dead-end. Ground then called me and told me that there was no taxiway to the beginning of runway 24 (I got the impression this happens a lot!) and that I should do a 180 degree turn and hold short. I turned around and proceeded back to the hold short line at the intersection of the runways. By now I was starting to get confused and I held short 3 ft over the hold short line. I switched to the tower frequency and the controller shouted at me telling me I had crossed the hold short line. I apologized and waited for a clearance, which came a few mins later. The mistake was entirely my own caused by me being tired after a cross country that was probably a bit too long for a rookie pilot!

Title: A C152 PVT PLT INCURS THE WRATH OF THE GND CTLR AFTER GETTING LOST IN SEARCH OF A TXWY TO END OF RWY 24 AND THEN XING THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 24 A BDR, CT.

Narrative: I HAD JUST STOPPED AT THE FBO IN GA AT BDR FOR A COFFEE BREAK AFTER A 2 1/2 HR XCOUNTRY AND WAS ABOUT TO FINISH MY FINAL LEG TO DXR. I STARTED UP THE PLANE AND CALLED GND. THEY TOLD ME TO TAXI TO RWY 24 VIA TXWY D. AS I WAS TAXIING, GND TOLD ME TO PULL TO THE L OF TXWY D AND COMPLETE MY RUN-UP OFF THE TXWY SO THAT A MOONEY BEHIND ME COULD PASS. I PULLED OFF AND COMPLETED MY RUNUP. TXWY D JOINS RWYS 24 AND 29 AT THE POINT WHERE THEY INTERSECT AND I BECAME CONFUSED BY THE SIGNS FOR THE RWYS AT THIS INTXN. I THOUGHT THAT THE SIGN POINTING TO RWY 24 WAS TELLING ME TO TAXI DOWN A PARALLEL TXWY (EVEN THOUGH THIS TXWY WAS NOT IN THE AFD), SO I FOLLOWED THIS TXWY. AS I PROCEEDED, I REALIZED THAT THIS WAS A DEAD-END. GND THEN CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO TXWY TO THE BEGINNING OF RWY 24 (I GOT THE IMPRESSION THIS HAPPENS A LOT!) AND THAT I SHOULD DO A 180 DEG TURN AND HOLD SHORT. I TURNED AROUND AND PROCEEDED BACK TO THE HOLD SHORT LINE AT THE INTXN OF THE RWYS. BY NOW I WAS STARTING TO GET CONFUSED AND I HELD SHORT 3 FT OVER THE HOLD SHORT LINE. I SWITCHED TO THE TWR FREQ AND THE CTLR SHOUTED AT ME TELLING ME I HAD CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE. I APOLOGIZED AND WAITED FOR A CLRNC, WHICH CAME A FEW MINS LATER. THE MISTAKE WAS ENTIRELY MY OWN CAUSED BY ME BEING TIRED AFTER A XCOUNTRY THAT WAS PROBABLY A BIT TOO LONG FOR A ROOKIE PLT!
