Narrative:

Alleged wingtip contact with ground vehicle. After landing runway 22L, taxi instructions were txwys Y, K13 to taxiway K to gate. Passing taxiway Y11, company ramp controller was notified of our position and ramp control advised us gate xy was 'open, negative ground power.' sbound on taxiway K, crew noted absence of marshaller at gate xy and requested 'park job' on company ramp frequency. Prior to making the 90 degree left turn towards the yellow nosewheel guide line, a fuel truck was noted fueling an aircraft at adjacent gate xz. The fuel truck appeared to be within the xz safety zone. After making the left turn off of taxiway K, a marshaller was noted coming from the area of gate yy signaling a stop. The aircraft was stopped and the so gave a PA for passenger to remain seated. Marshaller got into position off the nose of the aircraft. We were marshalled forward and power on engines #1 and #3 was pushed up to 45% N1 to get up speed to make the final right turn to the gate. Marshaller signaled the aircraft forward prior to signaling the right turn. The directions of the marshaller were followed. Due to the sharp turn to the right and the 45% N1 power setting, some nose gear scrubbing was noted in the latter part of the final turn. Aircraft was brought to a stop at the gate, and the parking and securing checks accomplished. After passenger deplaning, the crew deplaned.

Title: A B727 FLT HAS A WINGTIP STRIKE ON A FUEL TRUCK WHEN BEING PARKED AT THE GATE AT DTW, MI.

Narrative: ALLEGED WINGTIP CONTACT WITH GND VEHICLE. AFTER LNDG RWY 22L, TAXI INSTRUCTIONS WERE TXWYS Y, K13 TO TXWY K TO GATE. PASSING TXWY Y11, COMPANY RAMP CTLR WAS NOTIFIED OF OUR POS AND RAMP CTL ADVISED US GATE XY WAS 'OPEN, NEGATIVE GND PWR.' SBOUND ON TXWY K, CREW NOTED ABSENCE OF MARSHALLER AT GATE XY AND REQUESTED 'PARK JOB' ON COMPANY RAMP FREQ. PRIOR TO MAKING THE 90 DEG L TURN TOWARDS THE YELLOW NOSEWHEEL GUIDE LINE, A FUEL TRUCK WAS NOTED FUELING AN ACFT AT ADJACENT GATE XZ. THE FUEL TRUCK APPEARED TO BE WITHIN THE XZ SAFETY ZONE. AFTER MAKING THE L TURN OFF OF TXWY K, A MARSHALLER WAS NOTED COMING FROM THE AREA OF GATE YY SIGNALING A STOP. THE ACFT WAS STOPPED AND THE SO GAVE A PA FOR PAX TO REMAIN SEATED. MARSHALLER GOT INTO POS OFF THE NOSE OF THE ACFT. WE WERE MARSHALLED FORWARD AND PWR ON ENGS #1 AND #3 WAS PUSHED UP TO 45% N1 TO GET UP SPD TO MAKE THE FINAL R TURN TO THE GATE. MARSHALLER SIGNALED THE ACFT FORWARD PRIOR TO SIGNALING THE R TURN. THE DIRECTIONS OF THE MARSHALLER WERE FOLLOWED. DUE TO THE SHARP TURN TO THE R AND THE 45% N1 PWR SETTING, SOME NOSE GEAR SCRUBBING WAS NOTED IN THE LATTER PART OF THE FINAL TURN. ACFT WAS BROUGHT TO A STOP AT THE GATE, AND THE PARKING AND SECURING CHKS ACCOMPLISHED. AFTER PAX DEPLANING, THE CREW DEPLANED.
