Narrative:

Smoke in forward galley. During climb out FL230, heard very loud bang followed by electrical burning odor. Immediately got 4 chimes from flight attendant #1. Coffeemaker in first class galley appeared to have had some sort of short which cause the bang, the smoke, and also caused white powder residue to cover the coffeemaker and galley surface. We turned off the galley power and checked for popped circuit breaker. First officer went to galley and pulled all circuit breakers after securing the galley. Smoke smell immediately dissipated and flight continued to ZZZ uneventfully after PA was made to passenger. Upon arriving at the gate in ZZZ, flight attendant expressed much concern about the unexplained white powder. Captain and maintenance explained to them that the powder came from a piece of ceramic that exploded. This was the reason for the bang, the smoke and the powder. Asked that air carrier operations please test the white substance and report back the findings. Left phone numbers of all crew members so follow up could be accomplished. Several flight attendants expressed concern and said they would go to company medical upon returning that afternoon.
