Narrative:

We had checked in with syr departure (126.12). They had assigned us a heading and altitude (220 degrees, 10000 ft). After several mins, we keyed the microphone to see if they still wanted us on that heading. Syr tower replied 'you should be on departure frequency 126.12.' we went back to 126.12 who said they had been trying to get a hold of us for quite some time. Somehow after we checked in with 126.12, the frequency was switched back to syr tower.
