Narrative:

30 mins (150 NM) from pdx, a passenger opened the overhead bin above xd. While pulling out a bag, a metal walking cane, which was also in the bin, fell out and struck the passenger in xo. Passenger complained afterward of pain in her left eye, upper teeth, nausea, and dizziness. (The cane struck her in the face.) passenger was offered oxygen, ice etc, but refused. However, as we progressed toward pdx, she did begin to feel worse and requested paramedics meet the flight. A call was made to dispatch to relay the situation, and it was determined that given the degree of the injuries, we proceed to pdx. A medical information form has been filled out.

Title: A320 PAX INJURED WHEN METAL WALKING CANE FELL OUT OF OVERHEAD BIN ON PAX SEATED UNDERNEATH BIN.

Narrative: 30 MINS (150 NM) FROM PDX, A PAX OPENED THE OVERHEAD BIN ABOVE XD. WHILE PULLING OUT A BAG, A METAL WALKING CANE, WHICH WAS ALSO IN THE BIN, FELL OUT AND STRUCK THE PAX IN XO. PAX COMPLAINED AFTERWARD OF PAIN IN HER L EYE, UPPER TEETH, NAUSEA, AND DIZZINESS. (THE CANE STRUCK HER IN THE FACE.) PAX WAS OFFERED OXYGEN, ICE ETC, BUT REFUSED. HOWEVER, AS WE PROGRESSED TOWARD PDX, SHE DID BEGIN TO FEEL WORSE AND REQUESTED PARAMEDICS MEET THE FLT. A CALL WAS MADE TO DISPATCH TO RELAY THE SIT, AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT GIVEN THE DEGREE OF THE INJURIES, WE PROCEED TO PDX. A MEDICAL INFO FORM HAS BEEN FILLED OUT.
