Narrative:
Fuel indicator displayed more fuel than was in the tanks and never indicated zero fuel. Fuel flow indicator displayed a burn rate of 11 gph. Operated aircraft for approximately 4 hours 15 mins after filling to full tanks. Placarded at 58 gallons, which should have left over 1/2 hour of fuel.

Title: AN SMA PLT DUE TO FUEL BURN MISCALCULATIONS, RAN LOW ON FUEL, MAKING AN EMER LNDG OFF FIELD.
Narrative: FUEL INDICATOR DISPLAYED MORE FUEL THAN WAS IN THE TANKS AND NEVER INDICATED ZERO FUEL. FUEL FLOW INDICATOR DISPLAYED A BURN RATE OF 11 GPH. OPERATED ACFT FOR APPROX 4 HRS 15 MINS AFTER FILLING TO FULL TANKS. PLACARDED AT 58 GALLONS, WHICH SHOULD HAVE LEFT OVER 1/2 HR OF FUEL.
