Narrative:

As we started to taxi for takeoff, I heard the ground controller say 'you are cleared to runway 3.' since ground movements were relatively slow and I thought the copilot had talked to the controller, we just started to taxi to runway 3. While turning onto the parallel taxiway, I saw that I had turned in front of a cessna citation. At that time the copilot then stated he hadn't spoke with ground control and I was taxiing without a clearance. Communication between copilot was the biggest contributing factor in this situation. I thought he had talked to ground control and subsequently picked up the wrong clearance. He was so busy doing checklists that he failed to remind me that we didn't have ground clearance. The other factor was that he made the checklist a priority rather than paying attention to the ground clearance. I made the mistake of assuming the ground clearance was mine and not the citation's. After the incident, both of us had a good discussion concerning these items and have a better idea of the proper way to discuss things in the cockpit. It's my feeling that flying together in the future we will both have a much better awareness of ATC procedures. In retrospect, it is fortunate no one was hurt and I am confident that this incident will make both of us more situationally aware and develop better communications in the cockpit between us.

Title: AN H25 CREW STARTED TAXIING WITHOUT A CLRNC AT SDL.

Narrative: AS WE STARTED TO TAXI FOR TKOF, I HEARD THE GND CTLR SAY 'YOU ARE CLRED TO RWY 3.' SINCE GND MOVEMENTS WERE RELATIVELY SLOW AND I THOUGHT THE COPLT HAD TALKED TO THE CTLR, WE JUST STARTED TO TAXI TO RWY 3. WHILE TURNING ONTO THE PARALLEL TXWY, I SAW THAT I HAD TURNED IN FRONT OF A CESSNA CITATION. AT THAT TIME THE COPLT THEN STATED HE HADN'T SPOKE WITH GND CTL AND I WAS TAXIING WITHOUT A CLRNC. COM BTWN COPLT WAS THE BIGGEST CONTRIBUTING FACTOR IN THIS SIT. I THOUGHT HE HAD TALKED TO GND CTL AND SUBSEQUENTLY PICKED UP THE WRONG CLRNC. HE WAS SO BUSY DOING CHKLISTS THAT HE FAILED TO REMIND ME THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE GND CLRNC. THE OTHER FACTOR WAS THAT HE MADE THE CHKLIST A PRIORITY RATHER THAN PAYING ATTN TO THE GND CLRNC. I MADE THE MISTAKE OF ASSUMING THE GND CLRNC WAS MINE AND NOT THE CITATION'S. AFTER THE INCIDENT, BOTH OF US HAD A GOOD DISCUSSION CONCERNING THESE ITEMS AND HAVE A BETTER IDEA OF THE PROPER WAY TO DISCUSS THINGS IN THE COCKPIT. IT'S MY FEELING THAT FLYING TOGETHER IN THE FUTURE WE WILL BOTH HAVE A MUCH BETTER AWARENESS OF ATC PROCS. IN RETROSPECT, IT IS FORTUNATE NO ONE WAS HURT AND I AM CONFIDENT THAT THIS INCIDENT WILL MAKE BOTH OF US MORE SITUATIONALLY AWARE AND DEVELOP BETTER COMS IN THE COCKPIT BTWN US.
