Narrative:

The flight conducted on sep/wed/01 was assigned to me by the FBO of ZZZ airport manufacturer in united states. I was informed clearly and precisely that it was an far part 91 operation, not a part 135 charter. I am not responsible for management decisions of the FBO. On dec/mon/01, I received a letter (copy enclosed) from the FAA advising me that a flight that I conducted as PIC of an aircraft, CE414 is under investigation. The FAA suspects that particular flight was conducted as an illegal part 135 charter flight. I do part 91 flts only for a company named 'FBO.' the management of this organization that assigned me to this flight informed me clearly and precisely that it was an far part 91 operation. This flight was conducted on sep/wed/01. If the FAA deems that flight to be an illegal charter operation, it was assigned to me without that knowledge. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that the FAA FSDO inspector has advised him that he will be issued a warning letter for violation of operating charter flts even though he did not know that they had been charter flts. Since he is only one of 4 pilots taken illegal flts, he will only get warning because of his cooperation, but the others will be recommended for 6 month pilot certificate suspensions. He further stated that the FAA had received information from the persons paying the company for strictly charter flts. In addition, he advised that the company had been suspended 2 yrs ago for illegal charters and have been trying to get their certificate reinstated.
