Left engine oil pressure flux, then decrease. Oil quantity decrease to zero, oil pressure light illuminated. Left engine shut down by crew. En route from atlanta to grand cayman. Over cuba, decision made to divert to mia airport. Descent, approach, landing, rollout uneventful. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft was directly over havana, cuba, when we made the turn to return to miami due to loss of oil pressure and quantity. The reporter said the cause of the loss of oil was a failed gear box oil seal.

Narrative: L ENG OIL PRESSURE FLUX, THEN DECREASE. OIL QUANTITY DECREASE TO ZERO, OIL PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. L ENG SHUT DOWN BY CREW. ENRTE FROM ATLANTA TO GRAND CAYMAN. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ACFT WAS DIRECTLY OVER HAVANA, CUBA, WHEN WE MADE THE TURN TO RETURN TO MIAMI DUE TO LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE AND QUANTITY. THE RPTR SAID THE CAUSE OF THE LOSS OF OIL WAS A FAILED GEAR BOX OIL SEAL.
