Narrative:

I was taxiing out from the ramp to depart runway 24 at california city, L71. This is an uncontrolled field. There were strong winds, gusting to 20-25 mph. The single paved runway at L71 is very narrow, and as I was part way along, I realized I was on the runway, not on a taxiway. There was no traffic on the radio, none to be seen, and I believe there had been no arrs or departures in the 1+ hour that I had been at the airport, probably because of the strong winds. There were no exits between my position and the end of the runway. I elected to continue because there was no known traffic, and if an aircraft was to approach to land I would see it and be able to taxi off the runway, whereas if I was to turn about I'd have had my back to any landing traffic. No aircraft radioed in on the L71 frequency for the entire time I was in the airport vicinity. There were no conflicts with other aircraft.

Title: A PLT FINDS HIMSELF TAXIING DOWN THE RWY AT AN UNCTLED ARPT THINKING HE IS ON THE TXWY.

Narrative: I WAS TAXIING OUT FROM THE RAMP TO DEPART RWY 24 AT CALIFORNIA CITY, L71. THIS IS AN UNCTLED FIELD. THERE WERE STRONG WINDS, GUSTING TO 20-25 MPH. THE SINGLE PAVED RWY AT L71 IS VERY NARROW, AND AS I WAS PART WAY ALONG, I REALIZED I WAS ON THE RWY, NOT ON A TXWY. THERE WAS NO TFC ON THE RADIO, NONE TO BE SEEN, AND I BELIEVE THERE HAD BEEN NO ARRS OR DEPS IN THE 1+ HR THAT I HAD BEEN AT THE ARPT, PROBABLY BECAUSE OF THE STRONG WINDS. THERE WERE NO EXITS BTWN MY POS AND THE END OF THE RWY. I ELECTED TO CONTINUE BECAUSE THERE WAS NO KNOWN TFC, AND IF AN ACFT WAS TO APCH TO LAND I WOULD SEE IT AND BE ABLE TO TAXI OFF THE RWY, WHEREAS IF I WAS TO TURN ABOUT I'D HAVE HAD MY BACK TO ANY LNDG TFC. NO ACFT RADIOED IN ON THE L71 FREQ FOR THE ENTIRE TIME I WAS IN THE ARPT VICINITY. THERE WERE NO CONFLICTS WITH OTHER ACFT.
